Friday Flowers

I saw these little pretties on King Street yesterday. Bright pansies remind me of springtime and so did this week's weather. It was 77 degrees yesterday! Thanksgiving is next week, right? I walked into Starbucks wearing a scarf and tights and other customers were wearing shorts and seersucker. Ah Charleston, your November weather has been so lovely.

Look who I saw hanging around on ebay. Remember these guys from my rainy days footwear post. For $30 these coral duck boots became mine. Thanks for voting on the last post but these were just too good of a deal. There's more where these came from in yellow, cream or dark green. This misty morning is begging for me to go four wheelin' or firewood hunting. Maybe an oyster roast later?

Dizzy Apple Cider

I drank a lot of apple cider this weekend and I'm staring to wonder why I didn't add bourbon. I found this recipe for a crisp apple cider cocktail. Two parts fresh apple cider, two parts ginger ale and one part bourbon. Yum!

I love these! I was not taught how to wear scarves growing up. We pretty much wore flip flops with jackets when it was cold out. I am catching up quick though. I love the scarf in the top left box. Hope your weekend was restful!

Fall Fun

I went to the farmers market today and had the best time. I have been cooped up and it was nice to get out. I got together with a friend this morning and we started the day with painting our nails. I love fall nail polish! It makes me feel so girly. I was able to wear my new boots. Thank you for your votes a couple weeks ago. I finally decided on the Frye Melissa boots.

The weather was a little warmer than expected so when we came across King of Pops gourmet popsicles, we had to indulge. I've heard about these guys for months and finally got to try them. Delicious! They use social media to broadcast their locations. I tried the mexican chocolate and my friend got key lime pie. They were so good we tried for a second helping later, but they had already moved to their next location.

We watched the Gamecocks beat Kentucky 54-3! The score reminds me of high school football. I am watching more football with M tonight. All in all it has been a great day. The weekends mean a lot lately. I am so grateful for a little rest!

I love this neutral shade! I need to get a fall nail polish soon. I gave myself a pedicure yesterday and I really felt like I was doing something good for myself. Sometimes little indulgences like fancy nail polish make you feel good inside and out.

Shrimp Season Starts Today

Shrimp Baiting season starts at high noon today. It's a complicated process but it ends with a plate full of these little guys! M has been going with his father and every season for the last 15+ years. They might as well be professionals. 

One person drives the boat while the other stands on the bow to cast the net.

Check out the diagram below. This is what the Department of Natural Resources prints in their guide to show people the rules. Looks Confusing huh? Well, to make it more difficult you do this all in the dark. Last year I went with them and I was in charge of the flashlight. The season is only 60 days long, but I would suggest going more in the beginning of the season. Water splashing and the wind on your face is pretty chilly in early November. The whole thing gives me flashbacks to episodes of the deadliest catch. A little dramatic, I know.

I will spend most nights of the shrimping season catching up on Grey's Anatomy while drinking a glass of wine. If it gets cold, I'll start a fire the wood burning stove. When M gets home with his catch I will head the shrimp and saute a couple for a late night snack. It's my part of the agreement because I am not as good on the boat as his dad. I want to help but I don't make the cut on the two man boat.

If you aren't able to go shrimping this year you should definitely flip through Nets and Doors by Jack Leigh. He was such an amazing photographer! In this book he perfectly captures the harsh beauty of commercial shrimping.

I'm looking for some good boots... I've been obsessing over these and can't decide which ones I like better. I love the red tones! I'm hoping the ones on the left don't look too clunky, but I think it may be a little tough to get jeans in the ones on the right. Frye makes both pair. Which pair would you choose? Do you know of a pair that you like better?
