Lowcountry St. Patricks Day

Yesterday we went by boat from Edisto to Bennett's Point for a Lowcountry St. Patricks Day celebration. Bennett's Point is a very small town off Hwy. 17 that is known for it's fresh seafood and persistent mosquitoes. The town's tag line is "Bennett's Point - Gotta Love It". The day was filled with a tractor parade, chicken purloo, Lynard Skynard, bourbon and springtime breezes. While the community celebration was fun, the best part of the day was the serene boat ride back to Edisto.

Dizzy Apple Cider

I drank a lot of apple cider this weekend and I'm staring to wonder why I didn't add bourbon. I found this recipe for a crisp apple cider cocktail. Two parts fresh apple cider, two parts ginger ale and one part bourbon. Yum!

Bourbon Milk Punch

I got married in April and did a makeup trial at Palmetto Bluff a couple weeks before my wedding. Besides the incredible make up artist, the best part was the little drink they gave me to sip on. The Bourbon Milk Punch was divine! It's one of those drinks that is so nice to sip but you don't want to have more than a couple. This week Palmetto Bluff was kind enough to share the recipe on their facebook page. You should give it a try as the weather gets cooler.

Bourbon Milk Punch

½ oz. Makers Mark Bourbon
1 oz Half & Half
1 oz Heavy Cream
a splash Vanilla Extract
 1 ½ oz Simple Syrup
and a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon

Shake well, strain into a snifter 1/2 filled with ice, and garnish with nutmeg.

I have a hard time drinking bourbon when it's warm out. Do you switch to a different drink when the weather changes?
